Walnut Grove Community Park Baseball Improvements

Overview

Overview New Brookswood-Fernridge Firehall RenderingA new replacement fire hall will be built in the 2600 block of 200 Street to serve the citizens of the Brookswood-Fernridge community, helping the Township of Langley Fire Department to continue protecting life, property, and the environment. Updates October 2025 As building construction progresses, surrounding site work is also advancing with concrete flatwork, curbs and gutters being poured. September 2025 The mass timber floor and roof is now in place, along with steel and wood framing. Work continues on the building enclosure, as well as rough-in work and boarding inside. June 2025 Concrete for the flat work and hose tower is nearing completion and the steel superstructure will be standing soon, ready for construction of the mass timber floor and roof decks. February 2025 Site preparation work continues and concrete foundations are being poured. Construction of the mass timber and steel superstructure for the firehall will begin in the spring. October 2024 Township Mayor Eric Woodward and Councillors Baillie, Ferguson, Martens, Pratt, and Rindt, gathered with Township Fire Chief Jason de Roy, IAFF Local 4550 President Jordan Sparrow, Fire Department staff, and other guests to celebrate the ground-breaking of the new Fire Hall 5 in Brookswood-Fernridge. "Once completed, a new fire hall for Brookswood-Fernridge will significantly reduce response times, providing better service and safety for our residents. We need to prepare for growth ahead of time and ensure our infrastructure and public safety is ready," said Township Mayor Eric Woodward. “This modern fire hall will reduce response times throughout many areas of the Township by approximately 21 seconds on average, and over 3.5 minutes for the Brookswood-Fernridge area specifically, which is key in protecting and saving lives and property,” said Township Fire Chief Jason de Roy. Background A new replacement firehall will be built to serve the citizens of the Brookswood-Fernridge community helping the Township of Langley Fire Department continue protecting life, property, and the environment. The project value is approximately $32 million with a completion date set for early 2026. The composite fire hall (career and paid-call firefighters) will include essential areas such as apparatus bays, decontamination facilities, living quarters, training rooms, and offices, and will be staffed by full-time career firefighters while also being used to support ongoing paid-call firefighting operations. The hall will use multiple pieces of firefighting equipment housed in a modern facility with four drive-through bays and be scalable to accommodate future growth. It will also be a post disaster facility with an adherence to the latest health and safety standards and be built targeting a high level of energy efficiency and Green House Gas (GHG) reductions.
