Tree Voucher Program

Due to the popularity of the Tree Voucher Program, all tree vouchers have now been issued.  Subject to funding, the Tree Voucher Program may open again Fall 2025. Please check back for updates.

Tree Voucher Program

You can help enhance the Township of Langley’s urban tree canopy by participating in our Tree Voucher Program. Township residents can apply to receive a voucher that can be used to purchase a tree to plant on their property.

The Township has partnered with two local retail nurseries on this residential tree planting program.

Participating nurseries:

  • Cedar Rim Nursery, located at 7024 Glover Road in Langley
  • Art’s Nursery, located at 8940 192 Street in Surrey

How the program works

Applications are open each year from November 1 to March 31.
Limited number of vouchers available

Residents apply online to receive a voucher valued at $350 that can be used at a participating nursery to purchase a tree. Voucher must be redeemed by April 15.

  • This program is for Township of Langley residents only.
  • Trees must be planted on private property.
  • Limit of one voucher per address per year.
  • Vouchers are provided by email only.
  • The voucher can be used once with a one-time value up to $350, including tax, at a participating nursery to purchase deciduous, evergreen, and/or coniferous tree(s) only.
View Tree Voucher Program terms and conditions

In consideration of your participation in the Tree Voucher Program and acceptance of a tree voucher from the Township of Langley, you agree to abide by and be bound to the following terms and conditions. Please read these terms and conditions carefully as they govern the contractual relationship between you and the Township of Langley in respect of your agreement to accept a voucher.

  • The tree(s) purchased under the voucher must be planted only on private property at the address provided to the Township.
  • The voucher can only be used once with a one-time value up to $350, including tax, at one of the participating nurseries to purchase deciduous, evergreen, and/or coniferous tree(s) only. One or more trees can be purchased under the voucher.
  • The voucher recipient is required to pay for any trees purchased under the voucher which exceed the value of the $350 at point of sale.
  • The voucher may not be used to purchase annuals, perennials, shrubs, hedging, palm trees, or dwarf tree varieties where mature height is under three (3) metres. Edible fruit and nut trees with a mature height under three (3) metres can be purchased under the voucher.
  • Voucher does not include purchase of any additional items such as fertilizer, soil amendments, bark mulch, tree stakes, pruning equipment, shovels or any other equipment or supplies whether or not related to the planting of the tree(s) purchased under the voucher.
  • Valid photo identification is required at the time of purchase to ensure the name on the voucher matches the person redeeming the voucher. No person other than the person named on the voucher is eligible to redeem the voucher and receive the tree(s).
  • The voucher has no cash value, and no refunds will be permitted. Guarantee or replacement of trees will follow established policies with the chosen nursery. The Township will not be responsible for tree survival or replacement and the Township is otherwise in no way liable for the care, survival, safety or replacement of any tree purchased under the voucher.
  • The nursery will notify the Township on the type of tree(s) and number of trees purchased using the voucher.
  • The Township reserves the right for a period of twelve (12) months from purchase to inspect the tree on the property, at reasonable times and on reasonable notice to the owner or occupant, listed on the voucher to ensure the purchased tree(s) have been planted.
  • Except in an emergency situation, no tree(s) purchased under the voucher may be removed within the first 12 months after purchase without prior written consent of the Township. If the tree(s) requires removal within the first 12 months after purchase, the Township must be immediately notified in writing to Parks Operations at parksadmin@tol.ca. A photograph may be required by the Township to document and confirm the reason for removal, in the sole discretion of the Township.
  • In addition to all other rights and remedies available to the Township, the voucher recipient will be responsible for reimbursing the Township for the full cost of the redeemed voucher value if at any time the Township confirms the listed tree(s) was not planted or has been removed from at the listed property within the first 12 months of purchase.

Tree voucher applications are now closed. Due to the popularity of the Tree Voucher Program, all tree vouchers have now been issued.  Subject to funding, the Tree Voucher Program may open again Fall 2025. Please check back for updates.

Township staff will email you the voucher, value up to $350, that you can redeem at the nursery you selected in your application.

  • Voucher must be redeemed at the nursery by April 15.
  • Voucher can be printed off or presented digitally to nursery staff from your electronic device.
  • Please ensure you bring valid photo identification with you as nursery staff will verify ID to ensure it matches the name on the voucher.
  • Nursery staff will provide advice on the appropriate tree for your property as you describe. Nursery staff will also provide advice on how to plant and care for the tree.
  • The Township is not responsible for tree survival or replacement and the Township is otherwise in no way liable for the care, survival, safety or replacement of any tree purchased under the Tree Voucher Program.
