Connecting seniors and young people in our community

The Township of Langley is using funding from BC Healthy Communities to support programs that connect Langley seniors with children, youth or younger adults.
This year’s funded projects include a series of "Repair Cafes", where seniors and youth will volunteer together to fix household goods and reduce waste, hosted by Langley Environmental Partners Society; and programs hosted by Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society for seniors to share in cultural practices with young families and youth, increasing social connection and support for everyone.
These initiatives and more provide opportunities for the Langley community to learn from the unique skills and personal stories of our seniors, as captured in the Township's 2021 Age- and Dementia-Friendly Action Plan.
Funding from this program is fully allocated, but individuals and organizations interested in doing intergenerational work are encouraged to email socialplanning@tol.ca with more information about their efforts.
