Council approves recreation access enhancements

At the April 28, 2025 Council meeting, Council approved the expansion of Township resident priority access registration currently in place for all swim lessons and at the waterpark at the Aldergrove Community Centre, to include all Recreation, Arts, and Culture registered programs starting in Fall 2025.
Council also approved a 35% non-resident surcharge to be implemented for a trial period for the upcoming fall/winter seasons and applied to select high demand registered programs including personal swim lessons, preschool swim lessons, swimmer 1-4, and Learn to Skate programs.
“We continue to improve access to recreation, arts and culture activities to help ensure Township residents can register in the high-demand programs they want and need, so we are endorsing this in a trial period to see how it goes and may consider expanding it in the future. As the second largest land area in Metro Vancouver, we will always have, and need, more facilities to build and take care of.” — Township Mayor Eric Woodward
More details on these access enhancements will be provided on the Township website, social media, and other channels leading up to the implementation in the Fall.
