Council approves recreation discount for children and youth

At the July 15, 2024 meeting, Council approved a School’s Out recreation discount program for children (aged 4-12) and youth (aged 13-18) that provides a reduced admission rate to drop-in activities at recreation centres during spring break, winter holiday break and Langley School District pro-days.
The admission price for the School’s Out discount will be set at 50% of the regular admission rate for children and youth respectively for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year beginning this September.
Specifically, days covered for the 50% discount for children and youth would be a total of 34 days during the school year including:
- spring break (14 days)
- winter break (13 days - closed Christmas day)
- Langley School District 35 pro-d days (~7 days)
These admission discounts would be offered within the school year, which overlaps 2 calendar years. The first year is during the 2024/25 school year (September 2024 to end of June 2025).
