David Beggs Memorial Park Signage Unveiled

A man who was known as the ‘Mayor of Springfield’ has had a park named in his honour, and a ceremony will be held to officially unveil the signage.
David Beggs, who was born in Red Deer, Alberta in 1942, built one of the first houses in Springfield Village, a residential development south of Fraser Highway along the eastern border of Aldergrove. He lived there from 1978 until his passing in 2018, and was well known to the neighbourhood.
During his forty years there, Beggs took his children and grandchildren to the pocket park in the Springfield development, at Davis Crescent and Springfield Drive. He could often be found cleaning the park up and making repairs so that it could be enjoyed by children in the area. The park features a children’s play area, benches, grassy areas, and a picnic table.
Last year, Township of Langley Council renamed the park in his honour, and on Saturday, June 1, the official signage for David Beggs Memorial Park will be unveiled. Those who knew Beggs and members of the public are invited to attend the sign unveiling ceremony, which will be held at 1:00pm.
