DC3 Aircraft Lands at a New Home

You may have noticed a big change recently at the Langley Regional Airport – the Canadian Museum of Flight’s large Douglas DC-3 aircraft has been moved to the north end of the airport’s main building along 216 Street.
The DC-3 was previously located in an area which NAV Canada service technicians noted as a regulatory issue with the proximity to their weather instruments, resulting in inaccurate wind readings for air traffic control tower staff and pilots, which impacts the level of aviation safety at the airport.
When searching for an alternate location for the DC-3, Township staff worked collaboratively with the Canadian Museum of Flight to find a suitable location that posed no impact to airport operations. It was agreed that the ideal location for the DC-3 would be the space in front of the beautifully painted airport mural.
This space ended up being a perfect spot to showcase both the historic DC-3 and the mural. The Township also commends all volunteers involved in this initiative which took many tireless hours to organize.
