Prepare Your Home for Autumn Rainfall with These 3 Steps

With autumn comes rain. As drier days begin to wane, ensure you’re prepared for storm season.
Take the following preventative maintenance measures to help mitigate flooding around your home and in your neighbourhood:
- Clean your gutters and ensure water from downspouts drain away from your residence.
- Clear nearby curbs and catch basins of leaves and debris.
- Don’t rake leaves onto the street or into open ditches – compost them or place them in your Green Cart for pickup. (Hint: If you have a large amount of leaf litter or green waste, you can put out additional 80L cans marked with a ‘Green Can’ or ‘Yard Trimmings’ decal or use compostable yard waste bags for pickup.
