Public Input Sought On Brookswood-Fernridge Neighbourhood Plans

Neighbourhood Plans are being prepared for the Booth, Fernridge, and Rinn areas of Brookswood-Fernridge and residents are encouraged to come out and have their say.
In October of 2017, a new Brookswood-Fernridge Community Plan was adopted by Township of Langley Council to replace the previous, 30-year-old Plan. The three Neighbourhood Plans are now being created to focus on the more detailed refinements of future land uses and densities, as well as street, block, and lot patterns. The Neighbourhood Planning process will also develop policies to guide planning and the design of buildings, streets, parks, transportation, amenities, municipal infrastructure, and implementation.
Over the next several weeks, a series of public engagement events will be held and residents are encouraged to help shape the Neighbourhood Planning process by sharing their ideas and suggestions.
To start the conversation, Neighbourhood Dialogue Sessions will be held Monday, June 3, Thursday, June 6, and Thursday, June 13, at Brookswood Baptist Church, 20581 - 36 Avenue. Sessions will be held at 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:30pm, and 7:30pm and pre-registration is required. Register online at tol.ca/bfnp or in person at any Township of Langley community, cultural, or recreation centre, including the George Preston Recreation Centre at 20699 - 42 Avenue.
The sessions will provide face-to-face conversations with members of the Project Planning Team in a round-table format that will allow participants to share information, access background material, and to gather participants’ thoughts.
A Public Open House will be held on Tuesday, June 18. The drop-in event will run from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the South Langley Church at 20098 – 22 Avenue. During the interactive event, background information and an overview of the Neighbourhood Planning process will be presented, and the public can provide input on community values and key assets in the Booth, Fernridge, and Rinn Neighbourhood Plan areas.
The Brookswood-Fernridge Neighbourhood Planning process is just getting started and anyone interested is encouraged to stay up to date by visiting tol.ca/enews and subscribing to receive emails on project updates and event announcements. Information on the neighbourhood planning process, frequently asked questions, and background information is available at tol.ca/bfnp.
