
Road closure: 248 Street at 6700 block
Updated September 19, 2025:The bridge rehabilitation work is complete, the surface has been repaved, and road is now open to traffic.
Updated September 3, 2025: Most of the major works are completed and the bridge is on schedule to reopen on September 19, 2025.

Updated May 15, 2025: Council has authorized the use of $575,000 for rehabilitation work on the Coghlan Creek Bridge to facilitate a reopening of 248 Street.
Required regulatory reviews under both the Water Sustainability Act and the Fisheries Act are required, and subject to receiving the required approvals, the rehabilitation is tentatively planned for a 2025 window that poses the least risk to fish and fish habitat, currently identified as August 1 to September 15.
More updates and a concise work schedule will be provided here as it becomes available.
Updated April 30, 2025: To ensure public safety, the Township has conducted an inspection of the bridge over Coglan Creek on 248 Street at approximately the 6700 block. Based on the findings of the inspection, the bridge will remain closed while options for interim and long-term solutions are explored.
A detour route is in effect for all through traffic, indicated by signage and shown in this map. The detour to the north is at 72 Avenue and to the south at 56 Avenue. Traffic is being redirected east and west to use the 232 St or 264 Street interchanges.
Local area residents are provided access but will need to use a north or south detour approach to their residence based on which side of the Coglan Creek bridge they reside on.
