The City and Township of Langley Welcomes a New Officer-In-Charge

The City and Township of Langley, alongside the Langley Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Langley Detachment. Inspector Adrian Marsden will be promoted to Superintendent of the Langley RCMP once he relocates and officially assumes his new role at the detachment.

“I’m thrilled to return to BC and humbled to have the opportunity to work with the great team of police officers and staff at the Langley Detachment,” said Inspector Adrian Marsden. “I look forward to settling into the community and can’t wait to start enjoying the countless benefits of living and working in the City and Township of Langley.”

Born in Victoria, BC, Inspector Marsden joined the RCMP in 1993 and has over 28 years of experience serving in various investigative and leadership roles, including front-line, community policing, and plain-clothes investigative units. He has spent several years as an investigator with the RCMP Anti-Corruption Unit, worked with the BC RCMP Integrated Border Enforcement Team, and the Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit. He also oversaw the Duncan / North Cowichan detachment plain-clothes investigative teams and held acting appointments as the Officer-in-Charge.

Councillor Teri James, who sat on the selection panel, stated, “On behalf of Langley City Council, I want to congratulate Inspector Adrian Marsden on his appointment to Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Langley RCMP Detachment. I also want to thank the RCMP and Assistant Commissioner Maureen Levy for providing us with a list of excellent candidates to choose from, which made for a very challenging selection process. Langley City is looking forward to working with Inspector Marsden, who will be promoted to the rank of Superintendent, and the other members of the Langley RCMP Detachment to keep our community safe, prevent crime, and continue to work together on other strategic priorities.”

The City and Township of Langley would also like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of Inspector Mike Bhatti, who took on the role of Acting Officer-in-Charge of the Langley Detachment. We appreciate and thank him for his leadership and contribution to the stability of the detachment. The City and Township are looking forward to a smooth transition to the new Officer-In-Charge.
