Township of Langley Ranked Amongst Top 7 Intelligent Communities for 2021

The Township of Langley has been ranked amongst the Top 7 Intelligent Communities for 2021. This announcement was made by the international Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) at its annual global conference in June.
The ICF’s international jury uses a rigorous analytic method to select its Top 7 based on a number of factors that exemplify best practices in connectivity, workforce development, innovation, digital inclusion and advocacy. The ICF notes that the Top 7 are charting new paths to lasting prosperity for their community’s citizens, businesses and institutions, and are part of a global community that shares insights for other regions, cities, towns and villages around the world to follow.
The Township of Langley is proud to share the Top 7 most intelligent communities of 2021 with Binh Duong Smart City, Vietnam; Curitiba, Brazil; Mississauga, Canada; Moscow, Russia; Winnipeg, Canada; and Townsville, Australia.
The Township’s ICF Top 7 application showcased strategies and initiatives underway across our community where organizations are working together to make impactful economic, social, environmental, and cultural achievements. Stakeholder organizations highlighted for their initiatives in the application included WorkBC, Fraser Valley Regional Library, Langley School District 35, Trinity Western University, Kwantlen Polytechnic University,Langley Environmental Partners Society, Advanced Business Match, Langley Sustainable Agriculture Foundation, Tourism Langley, Immigrant Services Society, and the Langley Healthier Communities Partnership. Their initiatives, coupled with the Township’s broad portfolio of strategies and guiding documents such as the Sustainability Charter, Agriculture Viability Strategy, Public Engagement Charter, eGovernment Strategy, and Climate Action Strategy showcase a longstanding commitment to transformation.

The ICF’s mission is to help make everyone’s “hometown” a great place. It represents a global movement of 180 cities, metro regions, and counties with a think tank that studies and promotes best practices among the world’s Intelligent Communities as they adapt to demands and embrace opportunities presented by information and communications technology.
