Video Celebrates Coffee and Community Connections in Langley Township

When it comes to life’s simple pleasures, there are few things better than having a cup of coffee in a warm, inviting setting, chatting with friends and neighbours, and taking in the surrounding ambience.

Coffee houses and cafes aren’t just superb places to enjoy a beverage or something to eat – they are social hubs that encourage conversation and companionship. In the Township of Langley, they create connections by bringing people together, nurturing the arts and music, preserving our heritage, and sharing cultural experiences.

The Township is home to a number of novel and trendy coffee shops, which are being spotlighted in a new video. Coffee Shops and Cafes is the second in a three-part video series designed to showcase the Township’s food and beverage sector. The first video, Farm to Table, is featured on the Township’s YouTube channel, and Coffee Shops and Cafes was recently added to coincide with Economic Development Week, May 7 – 11.

   

“There are some really impressive coffee shops and cafes throughout our community that do much more than just provide food and drinks,” said Val Gafka, the Township of Langley’s Senior Manager of Corporate Administration. “They are inclusive gathering places that embody a culture of bringing people together, to make connections with each other and with the community surrounding them.”

“Coffee shops, bakeries, and cafes are a valuable part of the social fabric of our community. Equally, they are a valuable part of a network of food and beverage businesses that have connections with farms, agri-tourism destinations, and numerous exceptional restaurants, wineries, and breweries right here in the Township,” said Gafka. “There is so much abundance here, it is easy to buy local and eat farm to table. The Township truly is a haven for foodies and it is exciting to see how the industry is constantly evolving and how it brings the community together.”

A third video in the Food and Beverage series will be created in upcoming months. The next sectors to be profiled include both the applied technology industry, as well as the creative industry, including motion picture production.

Not only are the videos an enticing way to connect with those thinking of opening a business in the Township or investing in the community, Gafka said, they are marketing collateral that companies in the Township can leverage when showcasing their business to clients and investors. 

“There is so much to see, do, and experience here,” Gafka added. “The Township offers such diversity for the ideal staycation this spring or summer. One can literally explore and enjoy everything right in our own backyard.”
