Water restrictions now in effect, May 1 to October 15

Stage 1 water restrictions are now in effect across the region, including the Township of Langley, starting Thursday, May 1, 2025.
These seasonal restrictions come into effect automatically each year to prevent drinking water wastage and encourage efficient, responsible watering—especially as demand rises in the summer.
Most of the Township’s water supply is sourced from the Coquitlam, Seymour, and Capilano reservoirs, which are managed by Metro Vancouver. Currently these reservoirs are at normal seasonal levels for April; however, should the region experience above average temperatures or below normal rainfall, there may be less opportunity for those reservoirs to be replenished by rain and snow melt.
Summer water demand is primarily driven by lawn watering and outdoor uses. Abiding by watering restrictions is the best way for residents to help conserve drinking water and avoid escalation to higher restriction stages, which includes an outright ban on lawn watering (stage 2), as well as restrictions on other outdoor uses.
During stage 1, restrictions conserve drinking water by limiting lawn watering to one morning per week, based on your property type, address and watering method.
Watering gardens, trees, and shrubs is also subject to restrictions.
Permitted watering times
With proper maintenance, a healthy lawn only requires one hour of watering per week. If you’re considering redoing your property’s landscaping this year, there are several low maintenance lawn alternatives you can consider.
Stage 1 Residential lawn watering allowed:

Even-numbered addresses: Saturdays — automatic watering between 5am and 7am, and manual watering between 6am and 9am.
-
Odd-numbered addresses: Sundays — automatic watering between 5am and 7am, and manual watering between 6am and 9am.
-
Garden beds, shrubs, trees and flowers can be watered with a sprinkler any day between 5am and 9am, or any day at any time if watering by handheld hose, soaker hose, watering container or drip irrigation.
Stage 1 Non-residential lawn watering allowed:

Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesdays — automatic watering between 4am and 6am, and manual watering between 6am and 9am.
