Water restrictions update: prepare for Stage 3 restrictions
Update June 1: Metro Vancouver has announced that Stage 3 water restrictions will come into effect on Monday, June 8.
Residents are reminded that Stage 2 water restrictions are currently in effect and to prepare for the implementation of Stage 3 restrictions sometime in early June.
In addition to the current ban on all lawn watering, when Stage 3 comes into effect trees, shrubs, and flowers may be watered by hand or drip irrigation only — no sprinklers or soaker hoses (vegetable gardens are exempt from restrictions). Filling pools or hot tubs will be prohibited, as well as washing vehicles and boats except items related to safety (ex. windows, mirrors, lights, license plates). Washing of impermeable surfaces will only be permitted if done for a health and safety reason or if it is done by a commercial operation in preparation for painting or similar treatment – no aesthetic cleaning.
