W.C. Blair Recreation Centre Prepares for Expansion

The W.C. Blair Recreation Centre is preparing for an exciting project that will increase capacity and improve service for community members.

The project will merge and expand the two separate weight room and cardio spaces resulting in an overall expansion of the fitness centre of approximately 3,000 square feet. It also includes the addition of a steam room and upgrades to the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

$2.04 million in funding for the project was received from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) – COVID-19 Infrastructure Stream (CVRIS).

To accommodate construction, the weight room and cardio spaces at W.C. Blair will close to the public on February 7. The project is expected to be completed in early 2023.

W.C. Blair Recreation Centre’s pool, licensed pre-school, fitness classes, and recreation programs and activities will remain open and operational during this project.

Fitness Centres at Walnut Grove Community Centre and Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre remain open.
