
208 Street construction approved
Township of Langley Council has approved $33.2 million for the construction of 208 Street from 64 Avenue to 72 Avenue and the design of 208 Street from 72 Avenue to 76 Avenue and the 212 Street Connector from 208 Street to 80 Avenue.
“We are fixing 208 Street, finally. Construction of phase one from 64 Avenue to 72 Avenue will get underway, and design will begin for phase two which includes the design of 208 Street from 72 Avenue to 76 Avenue and 212 Street Connector from 208 Street to 80 Avenue. Long overdue, we are getting it done, said Mayor Eric Woodward.”
Phase 1 of the overall project includes the completion of work from 64 Avenue to 72 Avenue with funding providing for the construction of approximately two kilometres of arterial road widening improvements on the Willowbrook Connector from 64 Avenue to 68 Avenue and 208 Street from 68 Avenue to 72 Avenue, including intersection improvements at 64, 65, 66A, 68, 70 and 72 Avenues, and water, storm, sanitary, active transportation facilities installations, as well as third-party utilities relocations. The contract will be awarded imminently.
Phase 2 of the overall project includes 208 Street from 72 Avenue to 76 Avenue and the 212 Street Connector from 208 Street/74B Avenue to 212 Street/80 Avenue as identified in the Master Transportation Plan. Staff have commenced the design for this and the next step in this phase is completing the detailed design and tender documents.
