Fire Prevention Week 2025: Charge into Fire Safety™
Every year, Fire Prevention Week™ is held across Canada to raise awareness about fire safety. This year, from October 5 to 11, 2025, the Township of Langley Fire Department is joining the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in the campaign “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”
Lithium-ion batteries power many of our daily devices—from e-bikes and laptops to headphones and smartwatches—but if used incorrectly, they can overheat, catch fire, or even explode. This year’s theme highlights three key safety steps: Buy, Charge, Recycle.
- Buy: Choose certified products with ULC, CSA, or cETL marks.
- Charge: Use manufacturer-approved chargers, avoid overcharging, and charge devices on hard surfaces.
- Recycle: Never throw lithium-ion batteries in the garbage. Recycle at a safe drop-off location.
By following these steps, residents can help keep their homes and families safe.
