Let’s leave tree pruning to the professionals

The Township of Langley would like to remind residents and businesses to not trim or cut trees on Township property, including trees in parks and along streets. The Township has trained arborists who know how to promote and maintain a healthy community tree. These trained professionals follow best management practices to develop a healthy long-term tree structure by pruning based on tree health, tree species, location clearance requirements, and identifying future defects.
Trees are important assets to our community and provide many benefits such as filtering air pollution and water contaminants, providing shade, and improving mental wellbeing.
Improper pruning, such as topping, is harmful and can lead to tree stress, wood decay, potentially hazardous new growth which all could result in the tree dying or the need for tree removal.
You can request pruning of Township trees by completing this form. Don’t know if your tree is on Township property? To determine ownership or if you have any questions please call 604-532-7300, or email opsinfo@tol.ca.
Unauthorized pruning or removal of municipal trees are subject to penalties under Tree Protection Bylaw No. 5478.
