Mayor and Councillors Tour Community Amenities

On Monday March 20, Mayor Eric Woodward along with Councillors Tim Baillie, Michael Pratt, and Rob Rindt visited salishan Place by the River today to check out construction progress. salishan Place by the River is Fort Langley’s new arts, culture, and heritage facility being developed in partnership with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), Máthxwi (Matsqui), and se’mya’me (Semiahmoo) First Nations and other community organizations.
This three-storey building will share and celebrate the voices and stories of community members, encouraging interactive and inclusive experiences for visitors of all ages. salishan Place will be the new home of the museum and Fort Langley Community Library and provide indoor and outdoor community gathering spaces, including a reception hall and 167-seat presentation theatre. On Tuesday March 21, Mayor Eric Woodward and Councillors Tim Baillie, Barb Martens, and Michael Pratt, toured the Gateway of Hope. The facility offers several programs and services including community meals, a Christmas food hamper program, emergency shelter, and transitional housing.

On Wednesday March 22, Mayor Eric Woodward welcomed several teams who are competing at the 2023 BC Senior Curling Championships, being held at the Langley Curling Centre, within the George Preston Recreation Centre, from March 21st-26th, 2023.

On Monday April 3, Mayor Eric Woodward welcomed 36 teams and 144 curlers competing at the 54th annual Nifty 50 Ladies Bonspiel held at the Langley Curling Centre, within the George Preston Recreation Centre.

On Saturday April 8, Mayor Eric Woodward braved the rainy weather and welcomed players and parents at the North Langley Softball season opening ceremony at Yorkson Community Park. As more youth discover this great sport, North Langley Softball has grown from 350 players in 2022 to 450 registered for 2023.
On Wednesday April 12, Mayor Eric Woodward spoke with a grade 2-3 class at Christian Life Assembly where he discussed general Township topics and answered questions from the inquisitive children.
