#5 Ready, Set, Sale with the Township-wide Garage Sale

This year, we introduced a new event – the Township-wide Garage Sale. Hundreds of residents joined forces to host the biggest day of garage sales the Township had ever seen. The event, despite the day’s dreary weather, proved to be an instant success.

#4 Raptors Knoll Ready To Be Disc-Covered

Saturday, June 1 was the official opening ceremony for the Raptors Knoll Disc Golf Course at Jackman Wetlands Park. The new course, where players use thick, heavy, Frisbee-like discs and aim for chain baskets as targets, was built on a former landfill site that has been restored, covered with soil, and planted with trees. 

The course is a welcome addition to Township parks and provides an exciting new recreation opportunity for residents and visitors.

#3 Rotary Interpretive Centre Opens At Derek Doubleday Arboretum

It’s hard to miss the impressive-looking Rotary Interpretive Centre along Fraser Highway. We officially opened the building in the Derek Doubleday Arboretum on Saturday, June 22. The park, arboretum, and centre aims to educate people about the vast array of cultural and environmental uses for plants, and also features a series of interpretive panels and interactive displays explaining the surrounding environment and sustainable initiatives.

#2 Take it Back: Extended Producer Responsibility Items

With recycling often comes questions. So when we dove into Extended Producer Responsibility items this summer, we addressed the what, where, when, and why.

If you’re still wondering why you can drop-off a TV for free recycling but not the TV cabinet, or why tires are accepted with open arms but your front bumper isn’t, read this post to find the answer once and for all.

#1 New Traffic Calming Measures

Back in July, Council directed staff to move forward with installing traffic calming measures at existing schools to improve pedestrian safety. 

Five elementary and middle school locations were determined in consultation with the Langley School District, including Belmont Elementary, Gordon Greenwood Elementary, James Kennedy Elementary, Fort Langley Elementary, and Betty Gilbert Middle.

This fall, our Roads crew installed a novel crayon-themed sidewalk/speedhump at Gordon Greenwood Elementary.
